1. Lakers trade Julius Randle and Luol Deng to the Hawks at the trade deadline for Marco Bellineli, Ersan Illyasova, and Mike Muscala.

The Hawks capitalize on their expiring veteran contracts by adding a new building block to their recent rebuild. Lakers clear $30.5 mil off the cap next summer (including Randle's $12.5 mil cap hold).

2. Lakers trade Jordan Clarkson for a late 1st or early 2nd rounder.

Lakers go into 2018 free agency with just over $80 mil to spend. Sign George and Cousins to the max and resign KCP if LeBron won't take a pay cut at nearly 34 years old with a billion dollar Nike contract...

Ball - Ennis - draft pick
KCP - Hart
George - Kuzma
Ingram - Nance Jr.
Cousins - Zubac - Thomas

Didn't see much in Hart for him to replace Clarkson as backup SG. Ingram isn't strong enough for PF, he will get bullied.

28 Jul 2017 22:40:41
Did you watch Hart play in college? He improved every year and his game will translate to the NBA. He will become one of the more reliable bench players in the league by the time he enters his prime. Considering that Clarkson was traded primarily as cap relief in this scenario, the $11 mil in salary cap difference between the 2 players allows us to have about $20 mil on top of 2 max contracts and is well worth the minimal difference in skill between the two as a backup SG.

In regards to Ingram, you're correct at the moment. Given this is 15 months into the future and that may not be as significant an issue, especially with the constant increase in small ball/ positionless lineup emphasis. The reason I said Ingram at the 4 is because Paul George complained when the Pacers tried to utilize him there, but in this situation I would expect the Lakers to have him guard opposing power forwards that play within 15 feet from the basket.

Irving trade everyone

Cavaliers : J.Clarkson + J.Murray + W.Chandler + 1st round pick Nuggets + future 1st from Lakers

Lakers : D.Arthur + E.Mudiay

Nuggets : L.Deng + K.Irving

26 Jul 2017 07:51:43
I'm not a big Jc fan but I'm not even stupid enough to trade Deng and JC for Arthur and Mudiay.

26 Jul 2017 15:49:00
I love this trade for the Lakers. JC is about all he is going to be, and it's a heck of a salary dump to get us ready for the 2018 FA class.

26 Jul 2017 16:13:53
Why add yet ANOTHER PF, (Randle, Bryant, Nance, Kuzma) . There's a logjam already. Arthur doesn't help. Mudiay is a turnover machine and not a reliable shooter. Lonzo needs shooters around him. And I doubt Mudiay's future is a backup PG. he will build his stock back up this year.

Clarkson's ceiling is peaking. He is a sixth man and everyone knew that from the jump. He has a tradeable contract but he is reliable at what he does and isn't constantly injured. He's still fairly young and can play. I don't see why fans want to trade him. He's great for this team.

27 Jul 2017 03:36:20
I guess you don't understand the concept behind "Salary Dump" and getting Superstars to play in LA. $12MM is too much to pay for Clarkson and his selfish play.

27 Jul 2017 04:20:05
I think it would be better if we gave a little more and give Cleveland mudiay because they need a backup PG more than us and we need a SG Which Cleveland would already have so we'd get Murray.

27 Jul 2017 14:36:56
Laker Love- For a salary dump to work the Lakers need to take back the same amount of salary and the contract would have to be expiring. The trade that was proposed by espn33 doesn't work cap wise for the Lakers. Lakers can't dump Deng and Clarkson who have $30M total next season for $8M worth of players to teams that don't have that much cap space or over the cap.

27 Jul 2017 21:08:41
City dude is right just saying.

28 Jul 2017 17:35:37
Laker Love - I don't think you understand salary dump. Trading clarkson, a future first, and Denver is not a realistic salary dump. Clarksons value is not high enough to attach to anything except the exchange of a second or another player. Dumping Clarksons salary with a future first will set the Lakers back. Clarksons productivity at 12M is good and does not do any harm right now.

Not as much as Deng at 30+ making 18M per. You would need to at least attach Randle and a future first to get rid of Deng.

30 Jul 2017 07:54:00
Love the idea of jumping in on a 3 team trade if we can get Murray and dump deng without giving up ball or Ingram jump on it.

25 Jul 2017 20:35:46
Just a thought, maybe we can trade Deng,J/C,J/R n DP for Melo just to get out of Dengs contract.

2018 Melo has a player option. We sign PG13 and LBJ.

Our own super team. What do you guys think?

26 Jul 2017 01:01:14
Forgot about KCP.

26 Jul 2017 16:07:46
Don't think amelo would waive his NTC for LAL. Plus I'd rather have PG13 over 34 year old crybaby MElo. Not a good teammate. Not a reliable vet. Often injured.

25 Jul 2017 20:11:55
Trade: Josh Hart, Luol Deng, Thomas Bryant 2018 Second Rounder

Receive: Matthew Dellavedova

Another strong asset to attract LeBron and good veteran to teach Lonzo Ball some defense. Magic speaks very highly of this whole Lakers squad. It will be interesting to see him build and watch Julius Randle's confidence grow and then when he posts nice but not championship numbers savage trade him like he did Russell and like how he let Nwaba go weeks after speaking at Brook Lopez's Lakers press conference about how high Nwaba can jump and how good of a player he is especially on defense this season!

Agree5 Disagree17

26 Jul 2017 16:06:10
Delly isn't a strong asset LOL! He is a high energy player not so much a good defender. Lonzo's defensive instincts are not bad and he doesn't need, of all people, Delly to teach him defense. If Alonzo can improve his lateral quickness and drop his stance lower, build strength in his lower body then he will be fine on defense. He already has an advantage at 6'6.

A role player will not attract Lebron.

25 Jul 2017 07:59:06

SAS: Brandon Ingram, Jordan Clarkson, Ivica Zubac, future 1st

LAL: Kawhi Leonard

- Lakers then trade Julius Randle, Luol Deng, future 1st to Brooklyn and if LA manages to sign George/James this summer.

23 Jul 2017 16:37:39
Can we trade KCP already? We could trade him, randle, and 2 future 1st rounders for kyrie. Cleveland will keep their roster strong. KCP better than Rose. Plus lakers can still trade Clarkson and Deng together for something else down the line. PG13 wants a star set in L.A. before he comes, here you go.

Agree8 Disagree25

23 Jul 2017 18:10:10
KCP hasn't even played 1 game yet and you want him gone already? lol.

23 Jul 2017 23:40:13
W3 know how Irving and KCP play. If you were to build around a player, who would you pick? Seriously.

24 Jul 2017 03:48:11
Both players are role players. Obviously Kyrie Irving gives you more scoring and KCP gives better defense. I wouldn't say Kyrie Irving is a main guy type player. We can sit here debate or disagree all we want fact is the numbers don't lie and that Kyrie Irving will not make the Lakers a winner as the main guy. We have Lonzo Ball who is a perfect fit for what the Lakers need.

24 Jul 2017 20:04:19
You can't trade KCP until Dec 15th. League rules when signing a free agent.

I don't think Kyrie is the answer. He is too ball dominant and will not fit into Luke's system. We need to wait for PG13 and LBJ, and work on getting rid of Clarkson and Deng.

23 Jul 2017 16:30:55
Biggiest Block Buster trade in history in 30 days bc CP3 can't be traded for another 30 days

Cavs get Pope Clarkson Ntlikina O'Quinn Ingram Black Hartenstein Knicks Lakers 2018 unprotect 1st

Lakers get Lebron Melo CP3 Felder Kelly

Knicks get Irving Deng

Rockets get Lopez JrSmith Calderon

If the ineventible is going to happen to the Cavs, they should salvage and build a future.

Get Wade in a buyout sign Rose MLE. Beat warrior win title. Wade retire restructure Melo Lebron contract resign CP3 sign George do it again

Rockets success came with depth. Now deeper. D'Antoni offense success is with 1 ballhandler.

New face of franchise. New offense.

Whose pope?

24 Jul 2017 20:06:59
Pope = KCP

Lakers don't have a 1st round pick in 2018. Plus, too much crap to even read to see if it's legit.

23 Jul 2017 16:07:19
Cavs - Lakers - Knicks

Cavs gets:
2018 1st Knicks
2019 swap right Knicks
2020 1st Knicks
2020 1st Lakers
2022 1st Knicks
2022 2nd Lakers

Lakers gets:

Knicks gets:

Knicks and Lakers trade picks for stars and tries to compete this coming season. Moving future 1st's haven't worked well for teams in the past but they take the risk anyway.

Cavs go in full rebuild and gets 4 1st round picks for Irving and Love. The next move would be to move LeBron and get additional picks for the future.

24 Jul 2017 20:08:01
Just what the Lakers need. another power forward.

23 Jul 2017 02:41:04
I know it's the hot news right now but I don't want to get in to the Kyrie stuff.

At this season's trade deadline:
Lakers trade: Clarkson, Randle, Deng, 2019 1st rounder
Pelicans trade: Anthony Davis

If the ad boogie thing won't work out and they are out of the playoffs again, pelicans might want to send out Davis and in this scenario I'm predicting both Clarkson and Randle having great seasons. Don't judge it right away that this trade would be impossible, remember what Cousins traded for and Jimmy Butler.

Ball/ Hart/ Caruso
KCP/ Matt Thomas
Ingram/ Kuzma/ Brewer
Davis/ Nance
Lopez/ Bryant/ Zubac

I think this is an awesome looking team. Then in the 2018 offseason we finally get Paul George and we will be incredible.

Agree20 Disagree11

23 Jul 2017 06:25:51
Pelican want more.

23 Jul 2017 12:36:28
The Celtics are the most likely team to acquire Anthony Davis. They could have a couple top 5 picks this summer in addition to the Grizzlies and Clippers 2019 1st rounders, not to mention all of their own picks. They could send the two top 5 picks in 2018 and their own late 1st rounder and either Brown or Tatum. Now compare that to the offer of Deng, Clarkson, Randle, and a late lottery pick in 2019 (which is untradeable anyways, because you can't trade 1st rounders in back to back years) . We aren't getting Anthony Davis via trade.

24 Jul 2017 03:08:12
Just cause Celtics are most likely doesn't mean anything. See Jimmy B and PG13.

24 Jul 2017 20:10:09
Unless Anthony Davis requests a trade, he will be a Pelican for as long as he wants. Meaning the Pelicans will not trade their franchise player. duh!
