So Bleacher Report drops this article today about how the Lakers are going to land multiple superstars in free agency by extending Deng. I feel like they could definitely make that happen. But what if they aimed higher?

OKC is off to a rough start. They also have reported that upper management won't overdo it next summer in terms of going into the luxury tax. If George is to opt out and earn more (which he will), the Thunder can't afford him. If we hit December and OKC still isn't putting things together, why not capitalize on moving George to a team that he's rumored for?

Lakers get Paul George, Kyle Singler, Zach Collins
***Lakers get their guy. They've been after him and he's been after them. They preserve all expiring deals and take on minimal contracts with him.

Blazers get Jordan Clarkson, Alex Abrines, Julius Randle, OKC 2nd, 2 Lakers 1sts
***In this deal, Blazers move CJ. He's a great talent but doesn't necessarily fit next to Lillard. Getting Clarkson isn't a bad get, but getting 3 picks is great. Abrines can spread the foor, and Randle could fit well there.

Thunder get CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, Larry Nance Jr.
***Thunder don't get any picks, but they add a great scorer in CJ. They slide Roberson back over to the 3. Ingram can start at the 3 once he develops a little more. Nance is a nice prospect.

Lakers can still extend and stretch Deng. They still have big expiring contracts. They can actually build around their free agents. More than that, though, they can already have George there to use in talks with free agents next summer.

Thoughts? How far off am I?

probably best to keep all that talent and just sign him in FA.

16 Nov 2017 19:11:32
Ingram is playing well for a second year player. He’s on par to be a really good player, giving him up for FA in 2018 in PG13 isn’t ideal when they could potentially pair up next year.
PG: Ball
SG: GEORGE
SF: INGRAM

Those two on defensive switches and rotations will be a problem on the perimeter. The potential of them together vs weakening the Lakers for a FA next year doesn’t make sense to me.

Nets won’t be rebuilding THAT long. They have good young players. By 2020 that pick won’t be worth much to them. They would need something now. Same for all other teams. A pick 2 years into the future is not as attractive as a pick for next years draft.

18 Nov 2017 21:41:22
Nets get
Deng
Randle
2018 2nd from Denver (via Lakers)
2019 2nd from Chicago (via Lakers)

Lakers get
Booker
Dinwiddie
Acy.

I'm trying to make a Deng trade.

Philly: Ingram+Daniels

Suns: L Ball+ Deng

LA: Okafor+ 1rnd pick LA /or 1rnd pick Philly or Sac 2019+ 1rnd pick bucks 2018

Phoenix receive a PG with potential that fits the system. (And there's less pressure than in LA)

Philly get a young wingman

And LA get capspace and draft picks. They could sign LBJ, P george and D cousins. And they have the assets (draft picks) to trade for some good roll players. And they can start a rebuilt with the draft picks if they fail to land free agents.

With Ball and Ingram gone why would anyone sign with the Lakers? Everybody is so quick to trade everyone with no guarantees that we sign a key free agent.

Why would George and James leave a contending team for LA? Cousins finally has a teammate that makes his job easier. Why would he leave?

13 Nov 2017 22:22:31
Gasupo- Stop thinking too much. Lebron James and Paul George will not come to the Lakers without Ball and Ingram on the roster. That's what the Lakers are going to try to sell. To say oh the Lakers can start rebuilding if they don't land the free agents. My response to that is the Lakers are rebuilding. They can add pieces. If not then its not meant to be. Don't trade Ball and Ingram just to dump Deng when the Lakers can just stretch Deng at the end of the Deng.

Toolguy- When you say "Everybody is so quick to trade everyone with no guarantees that we sign a key free agent. " That is 100% true but of course its a select few. Unfortunately for Lakers fans we will keep reading dumb trade ideas until next summer.

It will never stop. But your correct it’s is a few versus everybody.

Matt Barnes was waived by the Kings and Rondo was waived by the Bulls. They can no longer be traded. Now let's just have fun here. The Sixers deal would probably work out the best if your looking at the trade machine.

12 Nov 2017 19:55:05
Afflalo not on the Kings.
