The Lakers need to retool around Davis once Lebron retires. Lakers are about winning. The paying customers who goes to these games aren't going to pay not to see games without stars such as Davis or Lebron James. If neither are apart of the team then ratings go down. Lakers and the NBA don't want that. Lakers aren't trading Davis and Lebron will retire as a Laker.

Bucks already have Holiday so that's not going to work. Next the salaries will need to be close to matching and Middleton isn't going to opt out of a 1 year $40M remaining on his contract to sign for multiple years at $20M per season. Makes zero sense for him to do that.
