They have a pair of sharpshooters in Josh Richardson and Doug McDermott that the Lakers have had interest in before. According to LJ Ellis of Spurs Talk though, the Lakers have only been willing to offer second-round picks to the Spurs along with Westbrook:

According to a source, the Los Angeles Lakers have targeted Richardson and McDermott in a trade that would involve Russell Westbrook. However, talks haven’t gained traction because the Lakers are only willing to relinquish a pair of second round picks in return for both players.

Richardson (41.9%) and McDermott (43.1%) have been shooting extremely well from three-point range this season for the Spurs. Considering the Lakers are last in the league in three-point shooting at 28.4%, Los Angeles may eventually decide to increase their offer for San Antonio’s sharpshooting duo.

If the Spurs do land Westbrook in a trade, the source says the Spurs would buy out his contract and allow him to become a free agent.

There are reportedly some rumblings that a Los Angeles Lakers star not named Russell Westbrook could be on the trade block. On a recent episode of his podcast, Bill Simmons said that Anthony Davis "might be available. "

"So, the Lakers lost again today, " Simmons said. "There's some buzz, some buzzing that AD might be available. That that's a Plan B. Because the Westbrook trade, or whatever they think they can get for Westbrook and whether you want to give up future assets, maybe that doesn't even make sense 'cause what are you getting if you're the Lakers? During this past offseason, Kyrie Irving was frequently connected with the Los Angeles Lakers, with many suggesting that the team should trade for him to improve their roster around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, it seems as though the team was not willing to give Kyrie Irving a long-term guaranteed deal in a potential sign-and-trade scenario, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

"I think it speaks to what happened when Brooklyn was resistant to giving Kyrie Irving a long-term guaranteed contract. So were the Lakers, in a sign and trade scenario with Brooklyn. "

"I don't think there's anything that's happened so far this season, on or especially off the court, that's going to give anybody more comfort with committing to Kyrie Irving on a long-term contract that leaves an organization without the flexibility to move off of it. "

Kyrie was thinking he was getting a multi-year deal after the last couple of seasons? LOL!

Irving is a head case, full of conspiracy theorys, misinformed and a moral black hole for ant team he's on. Talent does not override these traits in a player, and cannot be built on for a team to succeed on the floor. Flat earth, c.v. denier, base line racist has no place on the Lakers. Kareem bring us back to reality.

Keeping that in mind, Bleacher Report believes the Lakers are actually saving their future first-round picks for a blockbuster trade for Dame.

Via Bleacher Report:

"The second that Damian Lillard becomes available for a trade package, I'm shipping AD expresso, as fast as humanly possible to the Portland Trail Blazers. If I'm the Lakers, the only reason why do not go ahead and trade away those two first-round picks is because I'm eyeing someone like Damian Lillard. Damian Lillard is way more valuable than Buddy Hield and also Myles Turner. "

“I'm told the Lakers and Pacers did engage in some trade conversations this week and the Pacers' demand for two unprotected first-round picks … is just not appealing for the Lakers. ”

NBA Insider
@ShamsCharania
reports on the Pacers' plans to keep Myles Turner into the season.

Lakers news: Anthony Davis gets real on pain in his back

“A pretty good amount, ” Davis said about how much pain he felt, via Lakers Nation. “On the putback, it kind of just comes and goes, these little shocks that go. But at that point, you’re playing off adrenaline and so I know tonight, maybe into tomorrow, I’m probably gonna feel it more. But this is all manageable. Just trying to do what I can to make sure I’m on the floor to help the team.

“Keep doing what I’m doing, ” Davis added. “It was killing me tonight but I tried to do whatever I could do to help the team get a win. So if that means fighting through it, we’re gonna fight through it. I got two days in between games to get it right for New Orleans on Wednesday but I’m gonna do everything I can to make sure we get it done. ”

A little too early in the season for all this.

Kendrick Nunn, who was a Laker last season but missed the entirety of the season (a rarity for the injury type) due to a bone bruise, is progressing quite slowly, a bad sign for the Lakers as training camp is right around the corner.

Speaking to Michael Scotto, here's what The Athletic's Jovan Buha had to say about Nunn's injury progression:

"He's been around the facility shooting and working out. It's been a slower than anticipated ramp-up. They've got Pat, so he's the best addition of the offseason.

“Russell Westbrook never respected Frank [Vogel] from Day 1,” said one Lakers staff member with knowledge of the situation. “The moment Frank said anybody who gets the rebound can bring it up the court, which is just how the NBA is played these days, Russ was like, ‘Naw, I’m the point guard. Give the ball to me. Everybody run.  Frank was like, ‘No, we have Talen [Horton-Tucker) ] We have Austin [Reaves]. We have Malik. We have LeBron. We have AD. They can all bring the ball up. ’ He was like, ‘Nope, I’m the point guard. Give me that s—. Everybody get out the way. ’ “From that point on, in training camp, it was a wrap, ‘cause now Russ is a fish out of water. He doesn’t know what to do. That’s how that started. ”.

Malik Monk Opens Up On Lakers Team Dynamics: "Older Guys Yelling At The Rookies Because It's Their Fault. Everything They Do, It's Our Fault Out There Because They Know Everything And You Don't And When You Mess Up, You Just Got To Take It. "

I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. If the Lakers end up in the 10th seed, then they have to win 2 consecutive games against 9th seed and 2 consecutive games against loser of 7th and 8th seed to get into the playoffs as the 8th seed?

Anyone know how many 4-game winning streaks the Lakers had all season?

Here is how it works. The 7th and 8th seeds and The 9th and 10th seed each play a 1 game playoff. The winner of the 7th/ 8th seed gets the 7th seed. The loser of that game plays the winner of the 9th and 10th seed for the final 8th seed. The loser of the 9th and 10th seed game is out. Now in order for the 9th or 10th seed to get the 8th seed they must win 2 consecutive games against the loser of the 7th/ 8th seed game.

The Lakers had only 1 stretch they won 4 in a row and another stretch they won 3 in a row.

Predictions at this point the Lakers will either get 10th seed and probably win the one game but then lose. The other possibility is that they miss the play in all together and I say the Spurs take the 10th spot. This Lakers team defense stinks and the Lakers has very little hope.
