Whelp, a man could dream.
To start, let's get one thing clear, the lakers are all about making a big splash whether it's trades, signings, or firings. So if anything in this post sounds kind of far fetched, just bare with me, it is the lakers after all.
I don't see us in a dire need at the moment during this free agency other than trading to teams who are in need.
Trade deadline:
Send - N. YOUNG/ L. WILLIAMS and R. HIBBERT
GRIZZLIES
Receive - J. GREEN and B. WRIGHT
Send - Whatever we can to get back another 1st round pick in this draft, there's some under rated talent that can be utilized (Grayson Allen/ Denzel Valentine)
Offseason:
Immedietly fire Byron Scott
Hire: Scott Brooks, Luke Walton, or Tom Thibodeau
Hopefully one of these guys can bring stability to our HC position.
Draft:
Ben Simmons would be f**king amazing! He'll fit in perfectly with either of those head coaches systems, and will ultimately defer the scoring focus to the rest of the core (Russel, Clarkson, Randle)
Brandon Ingrim, however, is the more suitable pick for us. He's got a scorers mentality and is a mismatch from positions 1-5, and an amazing compliment to Russel and Randle's game.
If we our draft pick is any lower I can honestly say that we should look to trade. No one in this draft is going to have more of an Immediate impact like Simmons or Ingrim, and the lakers need nothing less.
(Not sure what our wallet is gunna look like heading in, but I know that the only players guaranteed a spot on our roster will be our 6 young core players. )
2016 FA:
Sign KD, Sign Whiteside
(Kd is obviously getting the bigger piece of the cookie in this deal)
Resign Jeff Green
Sign Brandon Jennings
(small deals, both players need to prove their worth)
Roster:
Russel/ Huertes
Clarkson/ Jennings/ (2nd 1st Rd pick)
Durant/ (Simmons Or Ingrim) / Green
Randle/ Nance Jr
Whiteside/ Black
(I kept Huertes cause let's face it, no one wants the face of shaqtin'-a-fool as their back up PG)
This isn't a championship team, this is bait for future FA.

2017 FA:
Sign westbrook
Talk to CP3 (lol! I know that sounds crazy, but he has an early termination option, and the dude is getting irritated AF with his situation)
He won't join though.
Roster:
Russell/ Clarkson
Westbrook/ Jennings/ 2nd 1st rounder from 2016 draft
KD/ Simmons or Ingrim/ Green
Randle/ Nance
Whiteside/ Black
2018:
Sign CP3 - his last hurrah with the Clippers doesn't go as planned, and by then the power in LA will have shifted back the to 16x NBA champs. The young core will have been nicely developed under the leadership of KD and Westbrook, and he'll have no problem sitting back seat to his current apprentice Russel.
Final Roster:
Russel/ CP3
Westbrook/ Clarkson/ 2nd 1st rounder from '16 draft
KD/ Simmons or Ingrim/ Green
