Lakers Sign P George to Max and still have cap holds to resign IT & Randle if they want. Or, they can renounce the rights of those 2 guys and have about $20M in cap space still and maybe try and offer Capela something the Rockets won't match.

LAL: #5, #17, G Monroe (exp), A Afflalo (exp)

SAC: #2, L Deng

MIL: #10 & T Mozgov

SAC can take Fultz (if BOS takes Jackson), Ball, or Fox

LAL can take Ball, Fox, Jackson, Tatum, or Isaac with #5 & Bam Adebayo (who I like) or Harry Giles at #17 and dump both bad contracts.

MIL moves up in the draft from #17 to #10 to take a better prospect.

SAC: L Deng & #2 pick

LAL: A Afflalo, #5, & #10

SAC can pick ball or Fox, take bad contract which isn't a big deal because they can't sign top tier free agents anyway.

LAL get expiring contract in Afflalo, get rid of Deng, and get 2 picks in a deep draft. Possibility Fox or Ball can drop to #5, it all depends which way PHO goes with their pick. If not, Tatum or Issac will be there at #5. With #10, I'd like to see them draft Donavon Mitchell. Super athletic, 6'-3" with a 6'-10" wingspan. I'd Bam Adebayo is available at #28 I'd like to see them get him. I'd also like to see them try and sign M Plumlee.

If they get Ball or Fox w/ #6:
#5/Clarkson
Russell/Mitchell
Ingram/Brewer
Randle/Nance
Plumlee/Zubac/Adebayo

If Ball & Fix are gone at #5, draft Isaac & Mitchell

Russell/Clarkson
Mitchell/Brewer
Ingram/Isaac
Randle/Nance
Plumlee/Zubac/Adebayo

LAL: McDaniels & '17 2nd (#57)

BKN: T Mozgov & J Clarkson

Salary dump for Lakers, have to give up young talent who Brooklyn is desperate for. Clarkson can play PG or SG, can start alongside Lin, or run their 2nd unit. Very versatile and locked for another 3 years for a good price. Lakers get rid of one of their bad contracts early so they're not trying to scramble to clear cap space next summer.

I would try and sign M Plumlee this summer. He's a high IQ player and a very good passer for a center. Not a rim protector, but a good defender. Seems like a great fit for Luke and the style he wants to play.

Ball (#2)
Russell
Ingram
Randle
Nance/Zubac

So you want to trade Clarkson an asset to the Lakers just to dump Mozgov so you can overpay Plumlee?

The only deal I would make with the Nets is to trade Mozgov, Brewer, and a either the 28th pick or a couple future seconds the Lakers got in trade and get Lopez. Expiring contract to sign a star. Lakers fans want stars not no Plumlee. We already have Randle, Nance and Zubac.

What SHOULD the Lakers do with the #2 pick?

• Keep it and draft Simmons/ Ingram?
• Use it in a trade to acquire a new face of the franchise?

What WILL the Lakers do with the #2 pick?

I ask this question because Buss is in the hot seat and might do something to try and keep his job. The only player I'd be OK with giving up the 2nd pick for is Paul George, but even then I'm not sure it's the right move.

I think they should just pick Simmons/ Ingram and try and get a couple 2nd tier free agents this year.

Sign Batum and Ezeli

What the Lakers will most likely do with it is draft Ben Simmons. I think Simmons will talk the Sixers out of drafting him so he can go to the Lakers. If Paul George or Demarcus Cousin were available for the #2 it would be worth a look but I don't see it happening. So make the selection of Simmons or Ingram at #2.

Lakers should force the Warriors to make a tough decision. Offer Ezeli AND Barnes an offer sheet at the same time; Ezeli 3@$56M and Barnes 4@ $72M the first day of free agency. I think they have 3 or 4 days to either match or let them walk.

If the Warriors decide to keep one of the 2 guys and match, they can't sign new FA unless they take exception or min contracts (no Durant) . If they match both, they will be right at the luxury tax threshold with only 9 players on the roster (assuming they don't waive Livingston and his partially guaranteed contract) . If they lose both of them, they'll have to adjust their roster and risk losing team chemistry.

If Lakers get both, sign Batum as well. They have the ability to play small ball by taking Randle out, putting Ingram in at SF, and sliding Barnes to PF.

Russell/ Williams
Batum/ Clarkson
Barnes/ Ingram
Randle/ Nance
Ezeli/ Black.

I'm going to revisit a couple of options for the Lakers.

I read an article in September of last year that the Kings wanted the Lakers #2 pick and Randle for Cousins. I thought they wanted Clarkson too back during all of these talks, but according to this article that wasn't the case. So could we trade Russell and Randle for Cousins if they decide to cut ties with him? I think his stock has dropped since last offseason. His maturity issues with Karl and the lack of making his team better this year I think has people wondering if he'll ever be a guy you can build a franchise around. Assuming we get the #2 pick, we'd have 4 assets; Russell, Clarkson, Randle, and a top 3 pick. I think Cousins could be had for only 2 of the 4. At most 3 of the 4. I actually think Cauley-Stein and Randle would be a good fit.

With that being said, what about Jimmy Butler if he becomes available? Is his value greater, less, or equal to Cousins? Both are all-stars; one's just an all-star big vs an all-star 2-way guard.

What are your thoughts? I won't buy that the Lakers don't have the assets to get either guy if they're available because it sounded like the Lakers are the ones who wouldn't go through with the Cousins trade last year. Other teams might offer more, but I honestly outside of the 1st pick this year, I don't see a team that can offer more than what the Lakers have. Sixers can offer up Okafor, Noel, Embiid, or Saric, but 2 of those guys haven't played at all yet, one is very similar to WCS. Okafor could be a good fit, but unless they offer the #1 pick with him I don't see that being enough; it's a little too much I think with Simmons being the #1 guy. The later picks they have aren't enough in this shallow draft. Boston has a ton of picks, and we'I'll see where this year's BKN pick they own lands, but if it's out of the top 3, is it really that appealing? Outside of Crowder and Bradley, I don't see any other player intriguing to SAC (don't think Thomas would be happy going back there) .

What better options are there for Cousins and/ or Butler?

The Lakers offered the #2 pick last year for Cousins. Kings declined it. They stated Cousins is not available. I do agree that if Cousins were to be trade the highest potential value in trade would be this summer. Otherwise he will leave the Kings. Kings would be stupid to not trade Cousins. He will leave in 2 seasons. As far as the Lakers I agree the Lakers need to bring in all star players to win. Something has to happen cause if it doesn't then its another 60 loss season next year.

2.) 13 Apr 2016 02:17:27
Boogie Cousins is more valuable than Jimmy Buttler because Cousins is an all-star in either conference where as Butler could have been left out of the all-star game if he had to compete with Harden, Westbrook, Curry, Paul, Klay, and Lillard for a spot.

There is a maximum contract players can sign as free agent. That is 4 years $88M. Batum and Horford can't sign for 4 years $100M. Plus I wouldn't want to have both those players on the team eating up most of the cap. Having Mahinmi coming off the bench making $12M a year isn't smart. He doesn't average much and somebody else can come in at a cheaper price. Bass is a better and cheaper option than Mahinmi. I see Horford going to the Magic or Celtics though if the Hawks don't resign him. For Horford to come to LA it would have to be at $18M a year so there would be enough to build. Doubt he would do that.

The LAL got the right guy at #2. That's who I wanted since they got the #2 pick (besides Towns, but that became unrealistic early on).
They need a good defensive big man and a good perimeter defender.
-Waive Hill or find a trade partner for him & Young taking back no salary
-Sign J Butler 3 yrs $50M (player option 3rd year, starting at $15.96M)
-Sign T Chandler 3 yrs $30M (starting at $9.5M)
-Sign KJ McDaniels 3 yrs $13.3M (starting at $4.2M)
-Sign B Wright w/ MLE (4 yrs $21.8M)

PG: Russell/Clarkson
SG: Kobe/McDaniels
SF: Butler/Brown (#34 pick)
PF: Randle/Nance Jr(#27 pick)/Kelly
C: Chandler/Wright/Sacre

2016/2017
Kobe comes off the books
-Sign Durant to max 4 yr $100-ishM (player option years 2 & 3 so he can opt out and resign for max when cap goes up to around $110M)
-Still have about $8-$9M to resign Clarkson and add role players.

PG: Russell/Clarkson
SG: Butler/McDaniels
SF: Durant/Brown
PF: Randle/Nance Jr
C: Chandler/Wright
