Why bother to stretch Deng when you don’t even put the cap space to good use? Especially when they’re just one year deals. May as well hold on to him unless we can really contend. Are we trading rosters with Mavs now? Lol.

2.) 07 Jan 2018 07:11:18
Kevin Hogg is not a real person.

3.) 07 Jan 2018 19:10:03
LakerNation Deng being stretched or traded will happen with or without stars coming to the team. Deng wants out and the Lakers are waiting til the off season to stretch him unless a miracle trade happens at the deadline which I doubt. He isn't in the Lakers future.

4.) 08 Jan 2018 14:08:41
citydude, It makes absolutely no sense to stretch him if we aren’t even going to use the cap space! If Deng wants out so bad, then he can buyout his contract, what’s the harm of having his contract on the books for an extra year, especially when he will be expiring the following year. But I agree with you, Magic will most likely be impatient and stretch him. Although I prefer he gets traded to the Mavs.

Paul George is obviously going to the Lakers unless OKC somehow makes the NBA Finals which is like a 5% chance. He even praised Lonzo and called him an all around great player. So OKC should trade him there instead of losing him for nothing

•Thunder get Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, and Corey Brewer

•Lakers get Paul George and Kyle Singler.

1.) 04 Jan 2018 16:36:09
So if Paul George is obviously going to the Lakers in your opinion then why would the Lakers trade those 3 players to OKC for a player who is coming in your opinion?

2.) 05 Jan 2018 02:30:27
It would be to get the money off the books. For the Lakers to sign 2 max players those 3 are going to be gone.

3.) 05 Jan 2018 17:13:21
Toolguy to sign 2 max players the Lakers can just stretch Deng and that would be it. I think we need to see exactly which all star players are coming before trading Clarkson. I know people are thinking oh let's trade for George so he's under contract with the Lakers. ESPN is reporting that the Thunder plan to keep George past the deadline. If the Thunder were on a losing streak and have a losing record right now I could've seen them trade George but not now, lol.

4.) 05 Jan 2018 21:39:27
I agree. To keep Clarkson. And if we get the guys to commit we can trade him then. I was just saying that’s the reason nba was trading him. Plus if we could give George the most money then he’s more likely to stay. But I would wait and see. I also would play the young guys more minutes and get them more experienced.

1. We won't sign Deron Williams. He's garbage and our 2017-18 roster is set. We especially shouldn't sign him next year when he'll be even worse.

2. Melo will only waive his trade clause for Houston and debatably Cleveland. Not to mention giving up Randle and a 1st rounder is too much to get rid of Dengs contract when we can use the stretch provision on him next summer.

3. If we did trade for Melo he'd play the PF and Ingram would start at SF.

4. We already have options lined up to trade Clarkson and not take back salary. We don't need a D-wade sign and trade, because we could still sign him and get a minor asset in return for Clarkson.

5. In your situation, Melo would be opting out to resign for $18 mil less. That's not going to happen, especially when he has a reputation for caring more about money than championships.

6. LeBron has stated that he would take a significant pay cut to play with the entire "banana boat" club. $4 million is hardly a paycut for someone with a billion dollar shoe deal (Durant gave back more than that this summer) .

7. The banana boat idea is not a pipe dream. It's a concept that won't even get us into the finals, will drain our assets for temporary mild success, and prevents us from building a future contender when the Warriors reign ends. Why overpay for 4 veterans that are all older than 34 and near retirement so we won't be able to flip them for assets.
