I think Lakers should go after a star shooting guard like derozan. They give up Hart, wagner and kcp 2019 pick on deadline. Think Lowry goes to the suns. At deadline Trade deng and 2021 pick And 2023 first for George hill.

Regardless what happens the Lakers waive hill which counts 1 mil towards thereCAP. Stevenson be a free agent and rondo that clears 31 mil including hill 18 million.

They will have 19 tied up to Ingram ball kuzma hill

James will be 36 and derozan 28. Well have 25 to 26 for Leonard. Maybe James contact will be a lil less in 2019 to give Leonard 29.

Your idea will not work salary cap wise. The Lakers have $23M in cap space next off season. They must either stretch Deng or trade him for nothing to get him off the books just to sign Leonard or another max player. Adding George Hill will eliminate the stretch provision on Deng. It would make zero sense to trade Deng a bad contract + 2 first round picks for George Hill another bad contract. Also adding DeRozan would eat away at the cap next off season so no max free agent.

When you say the Lakers can waive George Hill he counts for $1M against the cap that is not correct. He will make $18M in 19-20 season. I am assuming you might have not known George Hill's salary.

Dwight Howard signing would make sense if Lebron James feels ok with playing with him for 1 year. Doubt Lakers fans feel great about him but I could be wrong on that.

Regarding Dwight lakers should not sign that clown. After he picked Houston over us. Lakers should say no thanks.
