Your idea won't work. Lakers can't sign Lebron James, PG13, Chris Paul and Julius Randle + add Knight's salary. Chris Paul is going to ask for the max. He will not come for a cheap contract. Just to get James and PG13 the Lakers must stretch Deng. There is a way to get Chris Paul in with James and PG13. That will take either the Cavs, Thunder or Rockets to take a sign and trade deal. Basically gutting the roster + adding Deng. Which I doubt the Lakers would do to add Chris Paul.

chris paul isn't worth max and he knows it he already got his big payday dent is paired with 1st for a salery dump if lopez won't sign cheap not an issue he wasnt much a factor and knight is on similiar contract of lonzo lebrone will take less if paul is onboard only max will be paul.
