Here is a scenario to shed Deng:


Deng + Zubac (or a 2nd rounder) to the Wolves

for

Gorgui Dieng



Wolves (Thibs) the only one who could use Deng.
He can backup Taj and can create a little space at PF.

The loss of Dieng doesn't hurt them and we have a (overpaid) center who can play or ist easier to trade than Deng.

win win

Lakers can stretch Deng's contract and get cap space to sign 2 max free agents. Dieng is under contract for 3 more years at $49M. Lakers wouldn't be shedding a contract they would be taking on salary. Not a Win Win.

Not a win-win either by stretching Deng's salary. Go big or go home. Not agreeing with the trade, but there's no point half-assing a run at a ring. Either trade him via picks for cap space or hang on to him for another year then trade him before Ingram wants to get paid.
