Lakers/ Suns/ Hawks

Lakers receive: Tyson Chandler, Tyler Ulis, 2018 1st (Suns)

Suns receive: Julius Randle, Marco Belleneli

Hawks receive: Brook Lopez, 2019 second (Lakers)

*waive Ennis

PG: Ball/Ullis
SG: KCP/Clarkson/Blue
SF: Ingram/Deng/Brewer
PF: Kuzma/Nance/Bryant
C: Chandler/Zubac

Unpopular opinion: I think Deng can give us 10&5 off the bench which is a lot better than what Brewer is doing. Deng can still do a lot that Brewer can't. He deserves some minutes.

Second unpopular opinion: Lakers need a backup PG. Ulis can shoot and fill that void. Chandler is also top 20 in rebounds. Lakers have no one top 20. This lineup provides a lot of spacing and rebounding. Chandler brings toughness. I like this deal regardless of his contract.

Lakers do not want to add more money for next year. They are trying to get more cap space not less.

To add what Toolguy was saying the Lakers have no plans to play Luol Deng. So its not really an opinion when something isn't going to happen. In Deng's 13 minutes he did play he looked lost.

Deng should just get bought out.

Judging a players by 13 minutes played is no different than calling Zo a bust less than 30 games in but whatever you say, you’re the basketball genius right.

Too add to what I’m saying, none of this is really opinion if it’s not going to happen if we continue with your logic. This whole forum is a waste, if we continue to apply your logos. All that cap space and the only realistic option is PG13. They can only offer him so much. Chandlers contract is only 13M for one more year after this. If they extend Randle, I wonder what their cap would be and your responses.

GM step into reality dude. Deng most likely will not play another minute for the Lakers and will be stretched at the end of the season. You can sit here and argue or disagree all you want its not going to change. Are you an LA resident GM? Do you watch Lakers insiders and local Lakers coverage? If you did you would know the thought process of the Lakers and already know what is happening. This is a developmental year and Walton and management want to play the young guys. Chandler makes zero sense for what the Lakers want to do plus he is having a very poor season. If PG13 comes then that is what happens. If he doesn't there will be back up plans.

Lol you really think you know how the Lakers think because you watch Lakers insider shows LOL! Chandler’s having a bad season? BUT unlike any Laker, he’s top 15 in rebounding! You’re really just a fan just like me. Get off your high horse. Chandler doesn’t fit but “I can’t grab 5 boards a game” Lopez does? Oh it’s because he can (occasionally) shoot a 3, I forgot! Please tell me more on the Lakers thought process, o mighty one. (sarcasm) Remember when you said they wouldn’t trade Russell and questioned my trades with Russell then they TRADED RUSSELL? Yeah, I’ll take your “insider” - based know-it-all remarks with a grain of salt.

Well when Magic Johnson himself tells everybody what his plans are directly its kind of hard to say oh they will do this or that. He said he is trying to preserve cap space and acquiring Chandler ruins that. You know he is owed $13M next year right? Chandler's contract isn't expiring so Lakers aren't doing that.

I still believe they shouldn't have traded Russell. If no allstar free agents come then that will be a mistake. I knew Russell was on the market and at the time I thought he would go to the Pacers. I still believe that Russell and Ball could've worked together but hey that was Magic's decision. However I can only judge after what happens in the offseason. I will say it again. If no allstar free agent comes to the Lakers this offseason then the Russell trade was a mistake.

I know how much chandler is owed.13M is a reasonable price for one more year. Especially when the 2019 free agency center class is pretty good and a lot of those guys will fit well with the Lakers core (ala Nikola Jokic / Deandre Jordan - unrestricted) .

Russell was a known party boy in LA. Lakers defense would be lackluster and he would probably show up to practice lethargic and drunken as I’m sure he has. He’s been injured to the point where he’s missed weeks these past two seasons. He is better off somewhere where they aren’t looking to be serious for a while. I doubt Paul George stays in OKC where his play doesn’t translate to wins. More so, I have no problem with going after mid tier players that won’t get in the way of Ingram’s development: Danny Green (possibly the best if not one of the best 3&D SG) or making an offer for Zach Lavine who was averaging 20ppg up until injury. Those guys will compliment the core well too.
