Thoughts about this scenario:
Lakers receive: George, Abrines, Huestis
Thunder receive: Randle, Deng, Clarkson

The lakers would clear 34 million in cap space. You get Paul george to accept his player option of 20 million and that leaves you with a total team salary of 45 million heading into the off season. This means Lakers would still have space to sign two max contracts with George already on the team, plus having George on the team already would make other all star free agents more likely to come and play for the Lakers.

Why would OKC do this? If they were worried about George leaving they wouldn’t of traded for him.

It all depends on how things pan out before the deadline. If they continue to struggle I am certain George will leave in the offseason so rather than okc losing entirely they could get assets in return and at the same time the lakers can sign 2 more stars of their choice. Its not like OKC gave up much to get George.

Thunder will not want Deng in a Paul George deal. I rather have George, Randle, and Clarkson than just George.
