1. We won't sign Deron Williams. He's garbage and our 2017-18 roster is set. We especially shouldn't sign him next year when he'll be even worse.

2. Melo will only waive his trade clause for Houston and debatably Cleveland. Not to mention giving up Randle and a 1st rounder is too much to get rid of Dengs contract when we can use the stretch provision on him next summer.

3. If we did trade for Melo he'd play the PF and Ingram would start at SF.

4. We already have options lined up to trade Clarkson and not take back salary. We don't need a D-wade sign and trade, because we could still sign him and get a minor asset in return for Clarkson.

5. In your situation, Melo would be opting out to resign for $18 mil less. That's not going to happen, especially when he has a reputation for caring more about money than championships.

6. LeBron has stated that he would take a significant pay cut to play with the entire "banana boat" club. $4 million is hardly a paycut for someone with a billion dollar shoe deal (Durant gave back more than that this summer) .

7. The banana boat idea is not a pipe dream. It's a concept that won't even get us into the finals, will drain our assets for temporary mild success, and prevents us from building a future contender when the Warriors reign ends. Why overpay for 4 veterans that are all older than 34 and near retirement so we won't be able to flip them for assets.
