Your draft trade doesn't help the Lakers. Lakers need a point guard and there are a few available at the 2nd pick. I'm unsure why you want to trade down to the 5th spot with the Kings.

It may not help Lakers now, but it helps Lakers in the future. Randle is looking for a big contract extension and I don't trust Ball's athleticism, unorthodox jumpshot and poor defense. If we really need a PG, Fox may slip to 5 or they draft Frank Ntilikina at Pick 10. Although Lakers should really go best player available.

LakersNation, you essentially named everything people don't trust with Russell going into his 3rd year minus the unorthodox shot. If the shot goes in, however, I'm not sure why you would complain. Russell isn't a great defender either nor is he athletic. Ball is a lot more athletic than Russell and that's saying something. It's not reported that Randle is looking for a big contract extension so idk where you got that from. Lakers aren't looking to get younger and keep losing. They want to go forth with the core they have and add veteran stars. Not 2 more rookies.

Lonzo Ball brings ball movement and assist passing which the Lakers need. Defense will always have a chance to improve over time. Yes Fox would be a decent pick cause he is the better defender right now. If the Lakers were to be impressed with Fox over Ball they should make that selection at #2. I highly doubt Fox will be there at #5. Sixers and Suns need a point guard as well so he will more than likely be gone. At the end of the day the Lakers should pick Lonzo Ball at #2. Don't trade the pick. I do agree with GM though. If a trade were to be made the Lakers would be looking for an allstar in return.

I think the only way the Lakers trade the #2 pick for the King's #5 and 10 is if we can get rid of a big contract. For example, Lakers send #2, #28, Denver's 2018 second rounder and Luol Deng for #5, #10, and expiring contracts Aaron Afflalo and Anthony Tolliver.

King's get Ball to pair with Hield to make their backcourt for the next 5+ years and the veteran leader they're lacking with Rudy Gay leaving. I actually think there's a good chance Fox is available at 5 (Philly gets Josh Jackson and Suns get Tatum, because Simmons and Bledsoe can play point) . If we're lucky we could trade the #10 pick to Portland for their #15 and #20 so we can draft Anunoby and Giles. This gives us at least 2 talented young players at each position.

Fox - Ennis
Russell - Clarkson
Ingram - Anunoby
Randle - Nance Jr.
Zubac - Giles.
